Corporate Entrepreneurship and the attainment of Sustainable Development Goals in North- Central, Nigeria

Small and medium scale enterprises play critical role to the socio-economic development of Nigeria however for these businesses to strive competitively and survive the competitive marketing environment it requires adoption of strategic entrepreneurial innovative strategies through the instrumentality of corporate entrepreneurship. This study titled corporate entrepreneurship and the attainment of sustainable development goals in North-Central, Nigeria is written to examine the extent in which corporate entrepreneurship enhances the attainment of sustainable development goals in North-Central, Nigeria. Considering the nature of the population the study adopted the Godden sample size statistical formula to reach respondents numbering 384 through a structured questionnaire but only 296 respondents completed and returned their questionnaires given 77% retrieval rate. Pilot study was carried out using a test re-test method and Cronbach alpha coefficient to establish the reliability of the research instrument. Validity of the research instrument was conducted using content and face methods moderated by six experts. In addition, research survey design was adopted and the statistical tools adopted were both the descriptive and inferential or parametric statistics while the five formulated hypotheses were tested using simple linear regression analysis. Findings from the study revealed that there was a significant positive relationship between risk taking and the attainment of no poverty (r = 834, p-value <0.05), there was a significant positive relationship between proactiveness and the attainment of decent work and economic growth (r = .912, p-value <0.05), there was a significant positive relationship between innovativeness and the attainment of industry, innovation and infrastructure (r =.761, p-value <0.05), there was a significant positive relationship between autonomy and the attainment of sustainable cities and communities (r =.807, p-value <0.05) and there was a significant positive relationship between competitive aggressiveness and the attainment of responsible consumption and production (r = .883, p-value <0.05). In view of the findings, the study concluded that there was a significant positive relationship between corporate entrepreneurship and the attainment of sustainable development goals in the North-Central, Nigeria. Premised on the findings, the study recommends that corporate entrepreneurship practices should be aggressively integrated through the application of risk-taking competencies, autonomy, innovativeness, proactiveness and competitive aggressiveness targeted towards the attainment of sustainable development goals in North-Central, Nigeria.
