Information and Communication Technology and Human Resource Management: An Examination of Electronic Recruitment and Performance Management Systems

This study investigated information and communication technology and human resource management: an examination of e-recruitment and performance management systems in selected manufacturing companies in Anambra State. The study was guided by three research questions, and three hypotheses were tested at a 0.05 level of significance. A survey research design was adopted for the study. The study population consisted of the employees of selected manufacturing companies in Anambra State. A simple random sampling technique was used to draw 115 employees for the study. Questionnaire was utilised as the instrument for data collection. Mean and standard deviation were used for data analysis, while the t-test was used to test the hypotheses. The findings of the study revealed, among others, that e-recruitment of human resources management practices is not applied in selected manufacturing companies in Anambra State. It was also found that the performance management system of human resources management practice is not applied in selected manufacturing companies in Anambra State. Based on the findings, it was recommended, among others, that the Management of the studied manufacturing company in Anambra State should organise annual training programmes for staff to equip them with the requisite skills and knowledge of applying e-recruitment of human resources management practice.
